He related how a young man had been carried about the world for fifteen months before the ship on which he had stowed away was able to be rid of him. He had boarded a British vessel in a Brazilian port in September, 1932, and was, brought to Great Britain. As ho was a Latvian, under the Aliens Act he was not allowed to land. Therefore he was taken back, to Brazil, where the authorities refused to have anything to do with him, and for over fifteen months he stayed on-board the vessel at the steamship line’s expense. Eventually, after delicate negotiations and grc.'.t expei'.-p.>'he company was able to deposit the man in Latvia.
