ASSOCIATION WOUND UP Its animation suspended for many years, the Otago Unh'ereity Graduates’ Association was wound up‘finally last night. - , , The association has been ■ almost defunct for a long period, and when the ■members met last night V;the; of the last secretary , was -not ascertainable. The association’s activities have been lost in the limbo of the past. Dr G. E. Thompson ' (professor of languages) presided at the meeting, and i Mr H. Chapman, now registrar of the ' University, and a bachelor of arts of . the University," was . associated with him. . ■■ ‘' .Dr Thompson explained 'that the meeting had been called to wind up the affairs of the Graduates’■ Association, which had been long defunct, or, if not ■' actually defunct, had. suffered from suspended animation. The association was formed ip Dunedin r many, years beforo the Court of Convocation'-was constituted. Dr P. Marshall was the last president, and he ■ was vice-president. When the Court of Convocation was revived or made a more living thing ■ the funds at the association’s disposal amounted to £l7 lis Bd, and a question often discussed ‘ was whether the funds should be handed over to the court, the lineal successor. Nothing had been done through all the years, and the funds bad accrued by interest to £37 12s 9d. The disposal of the nest egg now remained to be decided. After the treasurer (Mr Chapman) - had explained the financial position it was decided that the .association be wound up, and that the funds be handed over to the>, court after the wishes of the life members as to the disposal of their subscriptions had beeiv ascertained.- ',
