The fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of the Leith* was held on Wednesday last, when there was a large attendance of members, witli C.R. Bro. W. Dillon in the chair. The meeting opened in 'mourning in memory of the late Bro. J. E. Wilson, who had passed away suddenly at Lauder. A motion of .sympathy with the family and relatives was carried. In connection with the circular from the local ft division ol the 8.M.A., and increasing the medical lists, it was resolved that the court ad here to the present practice. Invitations were accepted from Courts Saint Andrews and Pride of Dunedin.. The treasurer and P.C.R. Bro. W. J. Dimcan, delegates, gave their report on the meeting with the representatives of the B.M.A The auditors, P.D.C.R. Bro. R. S. Vercoe, P.C.R.s Bros. Duncan and Cockburn, submitted the balancesheet for the past half-year The posi tion disclosed was most satisfactory, all the funds being in a healthy condition. The - membership stood at 914, an increase for the period of twelve members. The secretary and treasurer also traversed the figures, and urged on the members to do their utmost to assist in retaining members. Two nen members were admitted. The meeting closed with a card competition. There was a good attendance of members at the last meeting of Court Bruce, Milton, when C-R- Bro. Lambert presided. The C.R. extended a hearty welcome to P.C.R. Bro. H. J Murdoch, of Dannevirke, who was revisiting Milton, and Sister M. J. Mulrine was also welcomed on her return to Milton. An invitation was received from the local officers of the Salvation Army to attend church parade in con neetion with their jubilee celebrations, but it had to be declined owing to the fact that the court was holding its own centenary celebrations at the same time. It was decided to hold a parade to St John's Church, on the evening of August 5, in connection with the centenary celebrations. At the conclusion of the meeting a social evening was held. There was an attendance of over eighty members of the court and friends, also members of Loyal Victoi’ia Lodge, M.U., to whom a complimentary evening was tendered. An excellent musical programme was contributed by the Milton Orchestra, under the baton of P.C.R. Bro. W. Kennedy. At the interval P.C.R. Bro. J. Begg moved a vote of thanks to the conductor and the orchestra, and replies were tendered by Bro. Kennedy and N.G. Sister E. Findlay. The remainder, of the evening was spent in dancing, for which music was supplied by Mr W. Taylor, with Bro. Lambert as M.C.

Court King Edward’s Pride opened its adjourned meeting in the Foresters’ Hall, Albany street, when an official visit was paid by members of Courts Pride of Oamaru and Victoria. C.R. Bro. R. Clarke occupied the chair. P.C.R. Bro. Dyke wrote that owing to ill-health he could not be 'present, and conveyed good wishes to the meeting. The J.W. reported on the recent visit to Court Enterprise, and _ Sister Montgomery reported on visiting courts at Green Island. The C.R. welcomed the visitors, and responses were given by P.C.R. Sister E. A. Whyte (Court Victoria) and Bro. G. A. Doran (Court Pride of Oamaru). A short address was given by P.D.C.R. Bro. V, E. Doran, bearing on past experiences and on the early days of Court King Edward’s Pride. One new member was admitted. After the close of the meeting a social evening was spent in dancing and cards, and Bro. V. E. Doran returned thanks for the hospitality given the visitors. Invitations were accepted from Courts Robin Hood, Pride of the Leith, and Saint Andrews. After a discussion on the proposal from the 8.M.A., it was decided to oppose the suggestion put forward by the local division to increase the medical lists. The district secretary, Bro. J. K. Macfie, paid an official visit, and was welcomed. Following his reply to the welcome, the district secretary presented the half-yearly balance sheet of the court, and reported on the audit. The figures showed that the court was in a solid position. Bro. J. K. Macfie then delivered an interesting address on the order in general and the court in particular. Bro. E. Clayton, auditor, also referred to the balance-sheet, which was adopted. Four new members were admitted, and the evening closed with a dance. The membership now stands at &SU.

The twenty-sixth anniversary of Court Pride of the Valley, juvenile branch attached to Court Pride of the Leith, was celebrated on Saturday last. The meeting opened early, and official visits were received from. Courts Star of Dunedin, Progress, Pride of the Port, and Sherwood Forest. Invitations were accepted from Courts. Pride of the Leith,. Sherwood Forest, and Progress. The visitors were welcomed by the youthful C.R., Bro. A. Fraser, and all juvenile courts responded, while P.C.R, Bro. Bennett replied on behalf of the parent court. Following the close of the meeting parents and friends of members were admitted, and a social evening was spent in games. Harmony was contributed by C.S. Bro. L. J. Neilson, with the secretary, Bro. J, K. Macfie, at the piano. Prizes won in. competitions during the year were presented by I.P.D.G.R. Bro. R. S. Vercoe to the following winners:— Bros. A. Fraser, W. J. Mercer, D. Fraser, N. Fraser, J. Douglas, G. W. David, R. L. D. Vercoe, R. Dixon, S. Gaudin, K. W. Bills, and D. D, Thompson. The membership cup was won by Bro. A. Fraser, who also gained the medal presented by Bro. John Swan. P.C.R. Bros. W. J. Mercer and N. L. Fraser wore presented with the certificates and badges of that office.
