SKIPPERS LTD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—What has happened to this company F Where are all the l,ooooz wash-ups they were going to give us? We understood they had ■ equipment there which would enable them to work the whole winter, yet there are men who are employed on the claim now enjoying a holiday, while the vendor of the claim, Mr A. E. Smith, spends a lot of his time away from the claim. What has happened to this “ Climie ” touch? It strikes me that the climate and conditions of Skippers have got them beaten, and that directly the floods come on the shares will be worth nest to nothing; As it is. with the capital of the company at its present size and the expense they have gone to with such little: result, the shares are not worth: their market price - today. It is ' time these - flash company promoters and • highly-qualified engineers were put on to a result basis.— I am, etc.,- Disgusted. July 26.
'[lf <l Disgusted Vis a shareholder in Skippers Limited,'he has received two comprehensive reports, dated June 30 and July 10 respectively, containing full information concerning work done on the ; claim and . the reasons for-delay in effecting a wash-up. It was admitted in the ' first report issued by _ the company,l that; the weather conditions, •peculiar tb the district, would not permit of more than four months’ work during the year, but actually work has not ceased on the claim since the commencement of development operations. Mr Smith, we are informed, just enjoyed a fortnight in - Dunedin—the first time he has been away from the claim since work began there.—Ed. E.S.]
