ARMS EMBARGO.
WASHINGTON, May 18.—The United States Government late today asked Congress to deelare an embargo on arms shipments to Bolivia and Paraguay. BOOKMAKER FINED. At Christchurch, the magistrate (Mr Lanry) to-day fined Alfred Manley £SO on a charge .of carrying on the business of a bookmaker. —Press Association.
