HOLIDAY IN GERMANY

UNPLEASANT SEQUEL MR STEPHENS EXPLAINS' Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 18. Mr Stephens, in his own message to the ‘ Daily Express ’ from Berlin, • declares that he took no photographs on the whole tour. He adds that while ho was spending a holiday with his wife and his wife’s cousin he Had heard a rumour about a strange new chemical being manufactured at Aken, and thought it might become the subject of an article.. He made inquiries from the works watchman, and was handed over to a Storm Trooper. Next day all were locked up, but the magistrate decided that there was insufficient evidence to justify a warrant, and the party was later released and told to report to the police on Thursday. They did so, and were told to remain at Magdeburg for another day in the company of a detective. In the meantime the British Consul had intervened, and the party was released unconditionally in the afternoon. The Magdeburg poliec were told that further action would possibly be taken in Berlin.
