The German and French sections secured the largest quota of to-day's offerings with limited support from Yorkshire and .Japan. Prices wore unchanged. Greasy merino made to 223 d. The average price this week was £l2 11s 9d a bale, or 9d a lb, and rellects a poor selection and a preponderance of crutchings and oddments. DAIRY COMMISSION THE TAKING OF EVIDENCE jPkr United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 17. The framing of a questionnaire for submission to different classes of witnesses occupied tho time of members of the Dairy Industry Commission at the morning sitting to-day. In the afternoon they had a discussion with the Government Statistician (Mr J. p • Butcher) in connection with certain statistics relating to the dairy industry. Evidence was also heard from the general manager of tho New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board (Mr John Trascr). Other witnesses will be Messrs I'. G. Grainger and T. Woodcock, of the stall of the New Zealand Dairy Prdouce Control Board. , , . To-morrow morning and in the atternoon the commission will hear representatives of the Overseas Shipowners Allotment Committee. The commission will probably leave Wellington for ■ Stratford about the second week m June, and from there will proceed to Hamilton and Auckland to bear further evidence. Nimino and Blair Ltd. report Laving sold this week 100 tons of cheese on account of the Thornbury Dairy Company to their London agents at pel lb, f.0.b., being the balance of this factory’s season’s output.
