ABDUCTION CASE
EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES [Per United Pkess Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH. May 17. John Southern, a half-caste Native, who yesterday pleaded guilty _ to a charge of abducting a Maori girl, was admitted this morning to two years’ probation. The magistrate (Mr Woodward) said the case was not one of-the more serious type of abducting, as the girl was a consenting party. He made it a condition of probation that Southern have no communication with the girl without her parents’ consent.
