INCREASING DEMAND LOCALLY Although not yet officially quoted by the New Zealand Stock Exchanges, New Zealand Reserve Bank shares continue to attract a strong inquiry. O&MINIGN FERTILISER COMPANY ANNUAL REPORT The annual report of the directors oi the Dominion Fertiliser Company Ltd., which will bo submitted to the shareholders at the company’s annual meeting on June 1, states that the business of the company has shown a substantial improvement over the trade experience of tlie previous two years, which improvement is reflected in the gross profit earned by the company. After writing off depreciation amounting to £7,790 18s, and providing £5,326 2s 8d for payment of income tux, the net profit i’or the year is £12,702 10s Id. Of this amount £1,157 18s lUd has been applied in further reduction ot the amount, of the company’s preliminary expenses and establishment account, leaving £8,244 11s 6d. To this has to be added the balance of £1,301 13s 9d brought forward from last_ yeaj’, makiim a total amount of £9,5-46 5s 3d to be dealt with. The directors recommend that £7,216 15s 5d be applied in payment to the shareholders of a dividend of 3 per cent., and that the balance ot £2,329 9s lOd be carried forward to the ensuing year. The retiring directors are Messrs J*. M‘Skimming and L. J. Stevens, both of whom, being eligible, offer themselves for reelection. The auditors (Messrs J. W. Smeaton and Co.) also oiler themselves for re-election. COLOMBO TEA SALE Mr L. M. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of May 15:—The market for medium teas was firm ; commons and line teas wore slightly irregular. The total quantity auctioned was 2,990,0001 b, the quality of the offerings being plain. At next week’s sale 2,870,0001 b are catalogued for auction.,
