board of doctors At the monthly meeting at the Board of Directors of the Y.W.C.A. the president welcomed two members. Mesdames It. 1). Halstead and N. G. Brewer, to the board. The matter of Miss MoucriofTs corninn; visit to New Zealand on furlough and for deputation work was discussed, and a recommendation was made that if deputation work in Australia was to be done extra time should be allowed for her whole furlough. Correspondence was received from Miss Moncrieff dealing with matters of national reconstruction in China and the interest taken by students in rural conditions as a basic problem. Mrs Sutherland Ross gave news of Miss Van Asche Van Wijck’s return to Europe and of the situation in Germany. - The secretary’s report covered activities for the month, dealing with the success of the board and committees’ conference ; the inauguration of the Business Girls’ Lyceum; the girl citizen membership drive; the reception tor Mr Sylvia Chapman, president of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand. Recommendations from the executive were adopted, and included the setting up of a sub-committee to revise the constitution and the reserving of at least two seats on the Board of Directors for representatives of the younger membership of the association. It was decided to send forward to the National Council of Women a recommendation from the Employment Committee concerning tlie necessity for investigation into the status of domestic workers, witli the plea also that something should be done to make the election of women to education boards and other .such bodies an easier matter. A recommendation concerning renovations to be carried out by tbo House and Cafeteria Committee was also endorsed.
