queen carnival committee meet Mr I-!. Thompson presided at a meeting of the St. Kilda Queen Carnival Comniittee licld in the pavilion last evening. Tlio Organiser (Mr C. A. _ Wycherley) reported on die week s activities. Mr J. M. Kelly, as a member of the deputation which had waited upon the Sb. Kilda Borough Council with a view to obtaining its assistance in connection with the carnival, reported that he had placed the position very fully before the council, with the rather disappointing result that a donation of £5 os had been decided upon. Other members of the committee also expressed disappointment at,the small amount voted by the council, and it was pointed out that both the St. Kilda Borough and the City of Dunedin would benefit if the St. Kilda beach was made attractive to the general public. ' Certain donations which had been made to the Central Committee were distributed among the queen committees. It was reported that the voting to date placed the sports queen (Miss Barton I at the head of■the poll, with the tramways queen (Miss Agnew) second, the surf queen ((Miss 3clour) third, ■’.nd the municipal queen (Miss Quirk) fourth. At the conclusion of the meeting the sub-committee appointed ot go into the matter of the arrangements for the final demonstration and the coronation ceremony ' met and drew up a list < f suggestions for submission to the General Committee at its next meeting.
