MYSTERY OF LIVE SHELLS
TWO MISSING AFTER FIND Thft discovery of four twelvc-pouncler shells lying covered iu straw in the grounds of a deserted Manchester mansion, and the subsequent disappearance of two of them, were mysteries which the police at Old Trafford, Manchester, were trying to solve Strict secrecy was maintained by the police concerning two shells which were in their possession, and which were to be examined by experts. It was believed, however, that the shells were “ live M ones. The shells were discovered three weeks previously by a Mr Fred. Kelly, who was breaking up motor wagons in the mansion grounds, which are now used as a coal mer* chant’s yard. He found them in a hole and forgot about them for three weeks, when he was talking to some friends, and the conversation turned to the subject of guns and shells. , . . . , ' Saying that ho could show his friends where there were some shells Mr Kelly took his friends to the yard, but only two ot tho shells could be found.
