FIGHTS AT ELECTION
FOUR PEOPLE KILLED “LITTLE TAMMANY” WINS. Four persons dead, ouo dying, and a dozen injured was the casualty list in the most turbulent election ever held in Kansas City. The party known as “ Little Tammany,” a Democratic organisation, beat the Reformers and kept control of the city by a majority of 59,000 voles. Ae in New York, a political machine controlled tho city and its offices, the motto being “ Tho spoils to the victor.” Dr Ross Hill, a former president of Missouri University, encouraged by tho success of the Reformers in New York, thought ho could oust “ Little Tammany.” But the well-entrenched party was too strong for him. The total vote recorded, however, beat all records, and, it is believed, has paved the way for victory for the Reformers next time. Among the killed in election fights was a negro Democratic judge. Among those injured were Mrs Violet Sprague and Mr Justine Bowersock, a reporter. The assailants, armed with cudgels and pistols, drove through tho streets in motor cars, firing indiscriminately.
