FORESTERS
The fortnightly. meeting of Court Excelsior was held on Tuesday last in the court room, St. Alary’s Hall, Durham street, Momington. The G.E., Bro, A. C. Oldham presided over a full attendance of officers, and a fair muster of members. The woodwards’ report disclosed that the sick brothers they had visited during the previous fortnight were progressing favourably, with the exception of one who was very low. Invitations were received from Court Woodland’s Pride, Alarion, and Pride of the Leith, to social evenings, and from Court King Edward’s Pride, enclosing a programme to an old-time dance. It was resolved to accept all the invitations, the court to attend officially. A letter was also received from the ball committee, enclosing tickets and intimating that the mext meeting would be hold at the end of May. Bros. JPAlinn, Bremner, Simmons, and Wood all reported on the various invitations the court had attended during the previous fortnight, and all stressed the fact of the poor attendance of Court Excelsior’s members. District Trustee P.C.R. W. R. Alearus, in the course of a few remarks cm the history of the court, said that he and P.C.R. Bro. F. B. Smith had served under ninety-three chief rangers. The president of the Juvenile management committee had a straight talk to his committee on their non-at-tendance at the juvenile meetings. The secretary, Bro. E. J. Patton, reported on Court Excelsior’s Pride juvenile meeting held in the Momington tramshed hall on Thursday, May 3, stating that four members of the juvenile Council were present to carry out the installation of officers. He also stated that the boys initiated one new member, and gave a very good rendering of ritual work. The nomination of one new member was duly approved. At the conclusion of the meeting all present took part in seven keenly contested games of euchre, being the second night’s play for the Thomson Cup.
