FATAL SHOOTING MISHAP. While pig shooting with two companions, on Saturday in the country a young man named Edgar. Thomas White, of Drummond .(Southland), received a bullet wound in thd temple, and died before he could be taken .to Invercargill. Hospital. COLLAPSE AND DEATH. Collapsing at. a game of cards, an. Onehunga resident, Patrick Fallon, aged eighty-one, died suddenly on Saturday night’. ' During a weekly euchre tournament conducted by the Catholic palish Mr Fallon coniplaiued of feeling unwell, and put down his cards. A few minutes afterwards he. collapsed,, and a doctor who was called found life extinct. As death, was due to heart failure, no, inquest , will be necessary. A' native of Ireland,. Mr Fallou for many, years was engaged in farming at Whangarei. jHe. retired ten years ago, and settled at Onehunga, living alone. THREE MEN INJURED, Knocked clown in the city by a “ hit-and-run. ” motorist on Saturday even-, mg J. Burns, H. Cobble, and S. Knight, three firemen from the iinei Mahia, received injuries which .necessitated their removal to . the hospital. Burns received injuries to his head and back, Gobble to his head and left leg, and Knight to his head and right leg,All three suffered from severe shock.—Wellington’ Press Association. FOOTBALLERS INJURED, John Simpson/aged twenty-one, residing at ,22 Thompson street, Caversham, was admitted to the hosjiital at 5 p.m. on Saturday suffering from concussion. He received the injury during a football .match the Opoluj Ground when he..was playing for the Zingari third grade team against Alhambra - „ ■> • iWhile Leslie hi'Queen was playing for Union against Zingari at Tahuna on Saturday afternoon be suffered a fracture of a small,bone at the back of the shinbone. He .was taken to the bpspital, where he was treated, and later sent home. .
