UNEMPLOYMENT

RESERVES DEPARTMENT Group 369 is to report for work at S a.m. to-morrow at the Mornington Football Ground. CONCERT AT ST. KILDA An appreciative audience filled the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, last evening, when the Highland Pipe Band, assisted by a number of leading artists, gave an entertainment in aid of the funds of the Mayor’s Relief Depot,. St. Kilda. The programme consisted of selections by the band, and Irish reel and iccl oTulloch by the champion reel party (Al isses Daphne Allen, Ngaera Hodge, Audrey Ramsay, and Reta Warren), novelty items and dances by the O’Brien Sisters, solos by Mr S. Clarkson, sailor’s hornpipe by Miss Ngaera Hodge, songs by Air W. Currie, scan trnibhais by Miss Eileen Bevin, humorous recitations by Miss Nan M‘Kee, and Scottish humour by Alt George Watson. Air M. Kelly was the chairman, and thanked the performers for providing the entertainment. He announced another entertainment for next Sunday evening, and reminded the audience that the depot was appealing for old clothing. A ring to phone 22-895 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. any day this week would ensure the parcel being picked up on Saturday afternoon. A vote of thanks to the performers, including the accompanists (All's Irvine, Alisses Finnerty, and Currie) and Pipe-major Budge and Sergeant Crichton, was carried by acclamation.

"AMBASSADORS" DANCE The Ambassadors’ dance, run by the South Dunedin Unemployed Association, was held last Tuesday in the South Dunedin Town Hall, about 200 patrons being present. During the evening a Monte Carlo was held, the winners being Miss F. AULaren and Air White. The first heat of the extended Monte Carlo was also held, the winners being Misses Williams, M'Donald, and Caird, and Messrs Jones, Paterson, and M'Robey. The second heat will be held to-morrow night, along with another Alonte Carlo and a lucky door number, for which prizes will be given. At the beginning of next month, the usual extended night will be held, taking the form of a poster dance.
