ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
' KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. A fatal accident occurred on the Great South road (Auckland) when a Maori, Leo Graham, aged twenty-five, was knocked down by a motor car and killed instantly. The deceased, who was employed by a Chinese _ market gardener, was evidently walking from his place of employment towards Otahuhu when he was struck by the ear, which was driven by Mr A. Rowe, of Remuera. ■ The car was stopped immediately and the occupants summoned an ambulance. The body of the young man, who had received head injuries, was taken to Otahuhu. LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. A serious level crossing accident occurred this morning when a _ motor cyclist, James Goodall, who resides at Oamaru, ran into the north express at the Severn street crossing and sus " tained serious Goodall was proceeding south, find did not see the train until close upon it. He jammed on the brakes, but the machine swerved and struck the engine, both the driver and the cycle being thrown syds. His condition is serious. Correspondent.,
