BYRD’S NORTH POLE FLIGHT
ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATED HOLIDAY IH LITTLE AMERICA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MONTREAL, May 10. A message from Little America states: “ Members of the expedition today declared a holiday in commemoration of the eighth anniversary of Admiral Byrd’s North Pole flight. Now Admiral Byrd is isolated 123 miles southward, but he participated in the ceremonies by radio communication. After breakfast the mess hall was cleared, the microphone was set up, and with Dr Charles Morgan, the expedition’s geophysicist, at the* wheezy, collapsible organ, the men sang 1 Anchors A weigh ’ and other favourites. Then each man. passed before the microphone, gave his name] and voiced greetings to Admiral Byrd. There were present three members who accompanied .Admiral' Byrd on that flight— Haines'.(second in command), No'ville, and E. J, Demas, who is in charge of the tractors.”
