'THE MIDDLE WATCH’
The Dunedin Strolling Players’ production of ‘ The Middle Match,’ the third of which was given in the Concert Chamber last night, is notably, free from those lapses which so frequently mar an amateur performance. The. happy atmosphere which pervaded the hall immediately communicated itself to the audience, with the result that both players and listeners were in harmony, a factor which accomplishes much to assure the success of the production. In addition, the cast is an excellent one, and ensures a rapid succession of coriiplications, in which tha regulations and red tape of the’ Navy are outraged by the unauthorised invasion of a cruiser by a party of civi. lians. The captain of the vessel is convincingly played by Mr Douglas Dali, while the vivacious American girl is portrayed by Miss Anita Winkel. During the intervals the D.I.C. Orchestra provided a selection of pleas, ing musical numbers. The final performance will be given to-night, and the proceeds from the whole season will be devoted to the Y.M.(/.A.
