The competitions, this week are not very hard either for the under-tens or the .over-tens. Send your replies to Big Brother Bill, c/o ‘ Evening Star ’ Newspaper, Stuart street, Dunedin. Be sure to mark the envelopes “ Competition.” A RIDDLE IN RHYME. (Under ten years. Prize, one shilling.) My first's in France, as well as Russia. My next’s in Mexico and Prussia. My third’s in Sweden, Ireland, too. My fpurth’s in England, not Pern. My fifth’s in Belgium, not in Spain. My last’s in Greece. To make it plain,.; •My letters six, no more, no less, Make up what you are asked to guess. QUEER FRUITS AND VEGETABLES (Over ten years. Prize, one shilling and sixpence.) The answer to each question is the' name of a fruit or vegetable, and the question is a clue to help discover the answer. ■ I planted an almanac. What grew? I planted a worn-out boat. What grew?
