A decline of 0.9 per cent, is recorded for the last mouth in the average of wholesale prices compared with March. As against April, 1933, an increase of G per cent, is shown, the index numbers for the three periods being 86.2, 87, and 81.3 respectively. The index numbers for food as a whole were the lowest recorded since the present series of index numbers was instituted in 1920, while that for the iron and steel <*roup is the highest since November, 1930.
