TAIERI POULTRY SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Taieri Poultry Society was well attended. The president (Mr J. P. Walls) was in the chair. The Mosgiel Borough Council notified the society that a decreased fee for the rental of the Coronation Hall during the show would be charged this year.— The secretary was instructed to write and thank the council for the concession. ' ■ The society decided to have a letter forwarded to the Oamaru Society offering its congratulations to that body on its jubilee year, and expressing good wishes for the jubilee show. At the instance of the judge of the canary section it was decided to procure special cages for the exhibits in this class. The schedule was also amended to permit of certain alterations to the canary and pigeon sections. Messrs E. J. Wilson, R. Smeatoh, J. Friend, F. G. Russell, and the secretary were appointed a sub-committee to prepare the schedule. The Secretary detailed particulars of the door prizes. The first award was a beaten copper screen, .the second being a poker-worked cushion. Mr R. C. Wilson (Invercargill) was appointed judge for all the poultry and bantam sections. The society resolved to ask the Department of Agriculture; to allow one of its officers to act as judge for the farm and garden classes.
