BEACH IMPROVEMENT
QUEEN CARNIVAL ACTIVITIES Moneys paid in by the respective queen committees last evening brought about a change in the positions of the flags indicating the state of the poll in the St. Kilda queen carnival competition. The sports queen (Miss Barton), whose distinctive colour is x-ed, retains first place, but the tramways queen, (Miss Agnew). flying the white flag, has taken second place, with the blue flag of the surf queen (Miss Idour) third, and the yellow emblem of the municipal queen (Miss Quirk) fourth. The supporters of the sports queen have been active during the week, and at a meeting held last night enthusiastic reports were received from the subcommittees in whose bauds the arrangements of various functions had been placed. It was arranged to hold a bridge evening in the near future, as well as several other entertainments, with a view to assisting Miss Barton's candidature. The winners of a number of competitions recently decided wei'e announced. and the prizes made available by apobcatiou to the secretary of flic committee.
