FAST AND FURIOUS FUN • YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU ’ Stanley Lupino and Thelma Todd will be responsible for fast and furious fun at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. They are the life and soul of ‘ You Made Me Love You,’ a delightful musical comedy, of which the theme is that of a song writer in search of a wife and his efforts to take her by. storm. The plot has one chance in several millions of being possible, and for that reason the production, is practically one long laugh. Lupino, he of the rubber neck and goggle eyes, talks, throws himself round, and makes love in the most amazing and admirable manner, and though the laugh is against him in most of the ludicrous situations it is with him at the end. Some of the cross talk between Lupino and Thelma Todd, who plays the part of ■ the unwilling young wife, is inimitable. The production remains on the same lively and exhilarating key throughout, and its amusement value is further enhanced by two merry vocal compositions, ‘ What’s Her Name?’ and ‘Why Can’t We?’ delivered by Stanley Lupino in his very own manner. From the moment when Lupino, as Tom Daly, captured his spitfire young wife, Pamela Berne (Thelma Todd), the fun began in earnest, although it was present in a minor key from the start of the picture to the time when Tom met his bride at the altar in plus fours. With the honeymoon embarked on safely handcuffed together the struggle to tame a spoilt, tiger-cat woman really began, leading by leaps and bounds to a happy ending. A background of fun is furnished by a capable cast, included among whom are John Lodpr, Gerald Rawlinson, James Carew, and Charles Mortimer.
