FAREWELL TO MR E. OSWALD REILLY v LOCAL BRUNERS FORGATHER A very pleasant function took place this morning in the Vedic Tea Rooms, when Mr E. Oswald Reilly was met by his fellow-brokers to bid both him and Mrs Reilly bon voyage, on the eve of their trip to England. . Mr Waigth, who was in the chair, referred to the splendid qualities of Mr Reilly, and extended to him the best wishes of the brokers for a successful trip and a safe return. Mr Geo. Williamson stated that Mr Reilly’s knowledge of the fruit trad® had always been at the disposal of the wholesalers and retailers, and that he had done veoman service as promoter of the South Island Fruitbrokers’ Association and the New Zealand Fruitbrokers’ Federation. During his association with the trade, Mr Reilly had done exceptional work in the elevation of the status of the fruit business; and he hoped that both .Mr and Mr* Reilly would greatly benefit^ by their sojourn in England. . A n Mr A. Newall, representing the Betailers’ Association, referred to Mr Reilly as the ambassador of the trad® in the south, and, extended the best wishes of his association to Mr and Mrs Reilly. . , Several other speakers also eulogised the sterling qualities of Mr Reilly as a citizen and business man. As a mark of the esteem in which he is held by his fellow-brokers, Mr Reilly was the recipient of a fountain pen suitably inscribed. Mr Reillv, in reply, thanked the members for their kind expressions of goodwill and the presentation, which ho highly appreciated. He stated that any information that he. might glean regarding the fruit business m England, would he gladly imparted to tho members of the trade on his return.
