MAHENO'S FIRST MELBOURNE TRIP IN TIME FOR CENTENARY GUP The first sailing of the Mahcno from Port Chalmers on resumption of the South Island-Melbourne service has been advanced from November 6 to October 30. Advice to that effect has been received by the Dunedin office of the Union Steam Ship Company. In response to numerous inquiries for the Mahcno to reach Melbourne in time for the Melbourne Cup the departure of this steamer will now be accelerated in order to do this. The Maheno will now leave Port Chalmers on October 30, Bluff on the 31st, and arrive in Melbourne on Sunday, November 4. It lias also been arranged that passengers will bo allowed to remain on the steamer during her stay in Melbourne for bed and breakfast, the charge for this being £6 os for saloon passengers and £3 los for second class passengers from the date of arrival until her departure from Melbourne on November 15.
