MURDEROUS ATTACK
BOWSER ATTENDANT SERIOUSLY INJURED TWO YOUNG MEN ARRESTED [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, May 10. A sensation was caused here tin's morning when it. was learned that the night attendant at Bowsers Limited, a service station at the corner of the Avenue and Plymouth street, Charles Herbert Quinlan, aged twenty, had been attacked by two young men. He was struck several times on the head with a paling, has hands and legs were bound, tbc premises were ransacked, and a small quantity of silver and stamps stolen. This occurred at 1.30 a.m., and later Constable Christmas and Detective Walsh arrested two local young men—Thomas Benjamin Raymond and Robert Woodham. The accused were charged with robbing and wounding Quinlan, and were remanded to May 17. Detective Walsh, in opposing bail, said a murderous attack had been made on Quinlan, and he was in hospital in a serious condition. One of the assailants called out to Quinlan that he wanted four gallons of benzine in a hurry, and as soon as lie opened the door he was dazzled by the lights of a car, and struck on the head and knocked down, when he received further blows.
