LAW STUDENTS’ DEBATING SOCIETY
The fortnightly meeting of the above society was held on Monday evening. Mr L. F. Moller presided over a large attendance of members. The debate was ‘ That the Strict Christian Attitude Towards the Keeping of the Sabbath is Conservative and Unjustified Under Modern Conditions.’ Mr F. E. Smith, seconded by Mr G. S. Raymond, led the debate for the affirmative, while Messrs M'Elrea and Holden supported the negative proposition. Varied and interesting arguments put forward by members resulted in a very enjoyable evening. The judge for the evening, Mr E. J. Anderson, awarded the debate to the affirmative, giving some practical criticism and advice on the art of public speaking. The following speakers were placed:—Mr F. E. Smith 1, Mr L. F. Moller 2, Mr A. C. Holden d, Mr J. S. B. More 4. The evening concluded, with a vote of thanks to the judge for his services
