BAD FOOTPATHS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Seeing that the council has a surplus profit of approximately £50,000, I think it should spend some of the money on footpaths. That of I ortar street, Clyde Hill, is a disgrace. Several years ago money was allotted to asphalt this path, but other streets were done instead. We have rough screenings, sprinkled with toppings. How would the councillors like their wives to push a pram uphill over this sort of track? There seems to be ample money for tarsealing and asphalting roads, to suit the motorist. What about the pedestrian? Apparently he is only a secondary consideration. Hoping that we shall get our path tar-sealed or asphalted before winter.—l am, etc., Disgusted.. May 10.
