MISS JEAN BATTEN UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE FOR AUSTRALIA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 8. Miss Jean Batten left Lyinpuo at 7 a.m. for Australia. Her departure was unexpected, and only three people saw the start from Brooklands at 5.30. Reaching Lympno at 6.20 she found she had forgotten a packet of sandwiches, coffee, and an electric torch. These were provided while the machine was being refuelled. She intends the lirst stop to he at Marseilles, and hopes to reach Rome to-night. BOMBAY TO ENGLAND PLIGHT BY YOUNG INDIANS. CALCUTTA, May 8. Probably the first flight of its kind in the Empire will be made next month when four young Indians, members of the Bombay Flying Club, under two English pilots, will fly four aeroplanes from Bombay to England for instruction and license qualification.
