Another large increase in the number of workpeople employed in shown by the Labour Ministry’s figures. On April 23 there were approximately 10,140,000 insured persons, aged sixteen to sixty-four, employed in Britain, which was 82,000 more than a month before, and 038,000 more than a year _ before. Most of the principal industries showed further improvement. Unemployed persons on labour exchange registers numbered 1,729,242 wholly unemployed, 329,913 temporarily stopped, and 89,040 normally in casual employment, a total of 2,148,195. This was 53,382 fewer than the previous month, and 549,439 fewer than the year before.
