FAIR COMPETITION Press Association—By Telegraph— Coprrijht. LONDON. -May 8. (deceived May 9, at 10.30 0.m.) At the wool sales 9,929 bales were offered, including 4,193 from New Zealand. About 5,695 bales were sold. There were larger and bettor selections with fair competition and steady prices, though the withdrawals were rather Frequent, especially .speculators’ lots. New Zealand scoured half-bred combing, “ Allandale, - ’ top price 32d. average 26id; half-bred lamb slipe, “ Ficiding/TBS,’’ top 17{d, average l-lijd. Messrs Murray. Roberts, and Co, Ltd. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Elder Ltd., dated the Sth inst.; — Compared with opening rates of present London sales, with fair competition, greasy merino par to 5 per cent, decline ; scoured merino declined 5 per cent. ; cross-bred, market firm.
