FINE BRITISH FARCE

STANLEY LUPINO FOR REGENT ‘You Made Me Love, You,’ which opens at the Regent 'Theatre on Friday, is a production which, by reason of Stanlev Lupine’s drolleries and the supreme gaiety of its conception, defies all attempts at criticism. In this effervescent comedy the inimitable Lupino is supported by none other than Thelma Todd, the popular American star of 1 Fra Diavolo ’ lame, who now makes her debut in British productions. The remainder of tlie cast includes the well-known John Loder, Gerald Rawlinson, and James Carow, and forms a strong background for

the general 'motif of fun and gaiety supplied by the leads. 'The story, an hilariously modern version of ‘ The Taming of the Shrew,’ opens with the attempts of Tom Daly (Lupino), a song writer, and, incidentally, heart-breaker, to find the inevitable “only girl in the world,” whom he has met in a traffic jam and then lost again. In ‘ You Made Me Love You,’ critics state, 'Thelma Todd has proved many things; that her flair for comedy is supplemented by an indubitable capacity for amusing; that she is well worthy of team work with England’s cleverest and most pojmlar comedian to-day; and that Monty Banks displayed rare acumen when he brought her over to British International Pictures to form the brilliant new comedy duo, which it was left to a British film producer to discover—Stanley Lupino and Thelma Todd. The supporting items will include another film featuring Ely Culbertson, the famous bridge expert.
