BOOK COVERS FOR THE KITCHEN
TO KEEP RECIPES IN ORDER Those soiled cookery books, will look fresh and clean again if covered with some gay cretonne. Even if the books have only been in use for a short time they get very soiled and sticky, as they often have to be opened with hands that are not quite free of sugar or flour. It is best to t use washing cretonne, and make the covers so they can be easily slipped off and washed. A half a yard of cretonne will cover three averagesize books. i Cut the cover out according to the size of the book. A straight piece of material a little wider than the width of the book and long enough to go round the book from cover to cover, and allowing two extra inches at each end for the envelope. Fold over each end to make the envelope, and stitch on the wrong side with the sewing machine. Make a neat hem at the top and the bottom, and the cover is ready for the book to be slipped into position.
