JARVIS EXCLUDED
EMPIRE GAMES TEAM COUNCIL’S DEFINITE DECISION W. J. Jarvis, despite the clt'orts of the Otago Swimming Centre to have his nomination approved and its willingness to raise the money to ensure his despatch, is to be excluded from the New Zealand team for the Empire Games. Definite advice to this effect was received by the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association this morning in reply to a letter sent to the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games’ Association, urging that body to approve of Jarvis’s nomination in view of his performances and of the fact that Otago was willing to launch an appeal to defray Jarvis’s expenses.
’The secretary of the Olympic and Empire Games Council (Mr H. Amos) wired the Otago Centro this morning: “ Regret association can’t include Jarvis. Writing.” ■
