INCREASES IN STAKES The Canterbury Jockey Club, at its monthly meeting yesterday, decided on several increases in stakes for the .November Meeting. The stakes have been increased by £195 on the first day, £l3O on the second day, and £lB5 on the third day. The Winter Cup has been increased by £IOO. The club has also decided, m view ot the decision of the Auckland Commit"U*© to change the dates of its Spring Meeting to October, thus avoiding a clash with the Riccarton Meeting in November, to make increases in stakes for this year in the classic races. The Derby has been increased from £BOO to £l,ooo, the Oaks from £4OO to £SOO, and for the Welcome Stakes from £SOO to £6OO.
