Major Froge, a brother of Major Froge, encountered Major Derenque, a witness in the espionage case, and horsewhipped him in the main street of Belfort, shouting: “That is how I treat liars and cowards.” “ I swear that I told the truth,” cried Major Derenque, as he dodged the whip strokes. A policeman arrested both. Meanwhile the authorities are taking steps to prevent a duel between the disputants. [A previous message stated:—A case similar to that of Mariei Louise was unearthed during the hearing of espionage charges in which Major Froge and Georges Sybert, alias Stanislaus Krauss, are implicated. Two Germans, Joseph Moeller and Otto Gies. have already been sentenced to two and five years # respectively and banished for ten years.]
