A large and fashionable gathering thronged the salons of Burlington House when the summer exhibition of the Royal Academy was opened to the private view of invited guests. It is the general opinion of art critics that in regard to craftsmanship, especially in the water-colour and _ graphic art sections, the works on exhibition are of great excellence. _ In the architectural section an exceptionally interesting exhibit is provided by the drawings of the new London University buildings, by Charles Holden, -which, when completed, will be the largest work of architecture in London,
