HORSE LEADS TO WHISKY STILL
\ SHREWD POLICE RUSE FARMER AND SON ON TRIAL [Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, May 8. The trial commenced in the Supreme Court of William Allan Alexander M'Rae, farmer, of Dunsdale, and his son, William, who are charged with making, or being concerned in unlawfully making, spirits. The Crown Prosecutor stated that when an Inspector of Customs and the police visited the locality they found a large and well-made still in operation in thick bush on an unoccupied property next M'Rae’s farm. Subsequently an old still was found in the bush. A track led from M'Rae’s farm through the bush to the stills, and the evidence -would show that it was used for no other purpose. A horse on the properly, when mounted by a constable and given its head, led the way to the new still. The evidence is proceeding.
