LATE QUEEN VICTORIA
PROPOSED IMPERSONATION PAGEANT PLAN BANNED. LONDON, April 25. The Lord Chamberlain has forbidden the producer of the Ramsgate pageant to characterise Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It was the producer’s intention to place the characters in a barouche and allow them to drive past a background reproducing Frith’s picture of .Ramsgate sands in 1854. The ‘ Star ’ recalls that the Lord Chamberlain forebade the representation of Queen Victoria in the stage play ‘ Alarigold ’ in 1927, and that Laurence Housman’s thirteen plays featuring her cannot be performed in England.
