DEVELOPMENT IN AUSTRALIA Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, May 3. The Minister for Agriculture (Mr F. W. Bulcock) announced that since Vestey’s Ltd. had acquired the Angliss interests in Queensland they were considering the establishment of a modern plant for chilled beef production at Port Alma, costing £300,000. Two great American companies, Swift and Armours, had options over killing works in the north, apparently with a view to developing the chilled beef trade. He added that close observers were inclined to the belief that the entry of the American companies into the Australian trade had a much deeper significance than the “ imperfect Ottawa structure afforded.”
