' THE MIDDLE WATCH'

Commencing on Wednesday next for a season of four nights, the Dunedin Strolling Players will present in the Town Hall Concert Chamber the hilarious comedy, ‘ The Middle Watch.’ Specially constructed scenery has been made to give atmosphere to the play, and care nas been taken to select the best of the local amateur talent, so that Dunedin theatre-goers are assured of a first-class evening’s entertainment. The company claims this- is the finest comedy it has yet presented. The play is written by those masters of modern merriment. lan Hay and Stephen KingHall, and deals with two bright young girls who find themselves forced' to spend the night aboard a battleship because the picket boat that was to convey them ashore after a dance most inconveniently breaks down. Implicated in the_ amusing adventures that follow is an innocent and woman-bating captain and a jovial commander, an unfortunate marine who suffers for the schemes of bis superiors, a peppery admiral and his yet more peppery wife and half a dozen lesser lights who are all accidentally involved. The complications that occur when the ship is ordered to sea to rescue a distressed vessel on board which is the wife and daughter of tho admiral are ludicrous in the extreme. The play is produced by Douglas Dali, and the cast includes Anita Winkel, Elsie M‘Peak, Gwenda Burt, Erana Newbold, Molly Baker, Douglas Dali, George Salmond, Douglas Skene, Reynolds Herbert, and Roland Watson. The box plan is now open at the D.I.C.
