GIRLS’ SWIMMING

TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TO GWEN RIX Keen and spirited competition, large entries, and a uniformly high standard of performance all combined towards the success of the annual girls’ swimming sports of the Dunedin Technical High School, held at the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon. The senior championship provided a close contest between Miss G. Rix and Miss N. Olds, and right up to the final event the issue was in doubt. Miss Rix eventually winning with 134 points, Miss Olds being runner-up with 114 points, and Miss Eggleston next with 3 points. The senior champion showed good form and versatility, and carried off the 50yds free style in the good lime of 32 4-ssec, the 33 l-3yds breast stroke in 25 3-ssec, the 100yds free style in 78sec, and was second in the diving. Miss Olds also gave a meritorious performance, winning with freedom and dash. The junior championship was won by Miss C. Knowles by a, large margin. Her ]2 points represented her superiority in most of the events, and was well ahead of the run-uer-up. Miss A. Brown, who gained 5 noints. Results: v SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.
