1 GOING GAY' AT ST. JAMES TO-MORROW Selwyn depson, one of the best known of English humorous writers, is responsible for the story of ‘ Going Gay,’ coming to the St. .lames The-, atre to-morrow. It abounds in scintillating wit and comic situations. It concerns the amusing adventures of two irresponsible young men who decide to spend a while in Vienna during a tour of Europe; one with the object of hearing the operas, and the other looking forward to the prospect of a series of hectic nights out. After both, falling in love' with the same girl they decide that the best course is to return to London. On boarding a plane they are startled to learn that they are on route for Venice instead. There is only one thing to do hr the circumstances —they have another drink! Arthur Riscoe’ and Naunton Wayne are the funmakers of the piece. They ate the celebrated English comedians who entertained New Zealanders with J. C. Williamson’s company some years ago and who are now playing in a different sphere. Especially chosen to play the comedy parts and Jim in ‘Going Gay,’ they are credited with “ giving performances that definitely place them in the front rank of screen comedians.” Magda. Schneider, the operatic star who will be remembered for her delightful performances in ‘ Tell Ale To-' night,’ will he heard singing the original compositions of ‘ Going Gay,’ whilst she will also demonstrate her great operatic ability in excerpts from ‘ La Belle Helene ’ (Offenbach) and ‘ The Daughter of the Regiment ’ (Donizetti). In addition to authentic exteriors made on location in Vienna, a number of elaborate.sets were built for 1 Going Gay ’ at the British and Dominion Studios at Boreham AVood, including a magnificent courtyard surrounded by a block of flats 60ft high and 50ft across, which _ was an exact reproduction of a building in Vienna.
