RUBBER PRODUCTION
THE RESTRICTION SCHEME FAVOURED BY BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, April 30. The Colonial Secretary (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister), in the House of Commons, stated that, subject to similar undertakings being given by the other Governments concerned, the British Government had decided to take the necessary steps to give effect to the rubber regulation agreement. So far as British territories were concerned they could hope to put the agreement into force as from June 1, and there was every reason to believe that it would bo equally possible in other territories. Speed in this matter was very important. As regards the practicability of the scheme he recalled his repealed assurances that the Government would not enter into_ any agreement unless it was satisfied ihat it was comprehensive, -fair and practicable.
