The fortnightly meeting of Court Excelsior was held in the court room. St. Marv’s Hall, Mormngton. Iho C.U., Bro. A. C. Oldham, presided over a full attendance of officers, and a good number of members. Letters were received from Bro. J• J • Baker. °;. Wanganui, and >,Bro. J. W- °’ Brunswick. Victoria. Bro. Bon re ’ turned a sick pay voucher and wished the court every success. Invitations were received from Courts Bride of Dunedin to a waltzing competition, from Robin Hoed to a dance and card evening, and from St. Andrews to a “ 500 ” card tournament. All the invitations were accepted the court to attend officially. A letter was also received from the secretary of the combined Ball Committee asking for seven members to represent the court at a meeting in Albany Street Hal] on Wednesday, May 3. seven brothers volunteered to attend. T.P.C.R. Bro. G: D. Hay. on behalf of the D.C.R.. Bro. H. L. Thomson', presented the cup given by Bro. Thomson, to the court. It was decided that the cup be called the “ Thomson Cup,” and that a letter be sent to the donor expressing thanks and appreciation for his generous gift. After discussion it was decided to play for the cup every six months, the trophy to be presented at the March ancf September meetings, and the winner to hold it for six months. It was agreed that the first three nights he as set down on the syllabus, and the two nights in July count for the first six months. Bro. Hay said he would give his July prize for the first three nights instead of for July. The secretary, Bro, E. J. Patton, reported on the cribbage and euchre teams’ visit to Court King Edward’s Pride. The euchre team won the shield and the cribbage team was runner-up in its games. Bro. Patton also reminded the Juvenile Management Committee of the iuvenile court’s meeting on Thursday. May 3, stating that members of the Juvenile Council would be present to instal the new officers. At the close of the meeting the members present took part in the first night’s play for the Thomson Cup, playing seven keenly-contested games.
