ST. KILDA BAND
The St. Kilda Band, under the conductorship of Mr James Dixon, will give its final Gardens concert to-mor-row afternoon, at 3 o’clock. Great care has been taken in selecting a programme that will prove attractive to all tastes, and a good attendance is expected. The tone poem ‘ Labour and Love,’ by Percy Fletcher, is probably the most difficult of the works to bo played, and is a selection full of delicate movements, requiring avtistio treatment by practically all soloists. The heavier passages of the work certainly suit this band. The ever popular 1 Zampa ’ selection will also be played. Two cornet polkas by Mr Vic Aldridge and Mr T. Bassett respectively should prove attractive. Other numbers included in the programme are a wait* ‘Birds of Paradise,’ marches ‘Dunediu ’ and ‘ North Star,’ hymns, fox trots, etc. The St. Kilda Band haj kept up steady practice since returning from the Wellington'contest, and visitors to the Gardens to-morrow maj look forward to some good playing.
