FREE STATE FINANCES
SIGNS OF STRESS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 10. The Dublin correspondent of the ‘ Sunday Times ’ says that although Mr De Valera promised to reduce expenditure by £2,000,000 on the Estimates for 1934, the amount is £34,400,000, compared with £25,500,000 in Mr Cosgravc’s time. Moreover, the last loan, on December 12, was only halfsubscribed, which is regarded as writing on the wall. Expenditure on such a scale is only possible by borrowing, which is new restricted in the Free State.
