DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY

MONTHLY MEETING The- Dunedin Presbytery held its monthly meeting yesterday afternoon. In the absence of the moderator (the Rev. H. J. Rybnrn), the Rev. R. S. M(Dowall presided. • It was-decided to send greetings to the Rev. James Kilpatrick, expressing pleasure that lie was recovering from indisposition and hoping that ho would soon be fully restored to bis normal health. The Rev. Dr S. E. Hunter was appointed moderator for the ensuing six months. A motion of thanks to the retiring moderator was passed. The Rev. C. G. Wilcox, reporting on the Bible class conference at Nelson, stated that the . gathering had been very successful indeed, there having been'4oo in attendance. Among the many noteworthy features was the study-circle, which had_ accomplished much useful and interesting work. It was reported that Mr G. D. Spence, of Sawyers Bay, was resigning with the object of devoting further time to his studies.—Presbytery confirmed the appointment of Mr E. B. Paterson to replace him. The Rev. Air Wilcox submitted a report, on the visitation to the Ravenshourne charge, and the commission’s ■finding regarding the congregation was adopted, Dr Dickie being appointed to read the, finding at a suitable date. •The Rev. Dr Dickie presented the following notice of motion:—“The Presbytery of Dunedin congratulates the editors of, the ‘ New Zealand Journal 'of Theology ’ on their zeal and entlui 'asm and heartily commends the journal to ail ministers and others interested in fostering theological learning and research in our dominion.” — Dr Dickie said he thought the journal was one of which they might well be proud and was of the greatest assistance to young clergymen.—The Rev. Dr Merrington supported these views, and the resolution was passed.
