At the Southland swimming championships to-night Clare Lynch broke the New Zealand record for the 50yds junior girls’ breast-stroke, covering the distance in 40 2-ssec. The record was 41sec. Dorothy Symon broke the record for the 50yds junior girls’ free style, her time being 30 l-ssec, onefifth of a second lower than the record. A. W. Wesney and Miss N.
